Eighty years of history as an optical glass pioneer

OHARA, a pioneer in optical glass in Japan, was established in 1935. Since then, we have continuously developed and provided cutting-edge materials that satisfy the needs of the times. Involved in countless technological innovations, we have contributed to industrial advancement, cultural creation and the realization of fulfilling lifestyles. In parallel, we have positively expanded our business globally and earned praise, especially for quality.
Meanwhile, advancements in science and technology have triggered a global wave of innovation that has allowed new players to emerge successively in the industrial arena, quickly remapping the landscape of industrial power that had remained intact for a long time. Today, business growth and even business survival is difficult if companies adhere to conventional mindsets and approaches.

Establishing the OHARA brand with an eye towards our 100th anniversary

In 2019, we set up a brand platform. In view of the reality we face as discussed above, we established it to be a signpost for the future. How should we take on the upcoming era? What should we define as our mission or values to ensure we continuously build the trust and confidence stakeholders and society have in us? What corporate culture should we build to enable employees to work with excitement? These were created with a view toward our 100th anniversary in 15 years, and our future beyond it.
The future of OHARA is synonymous with the future of every one of us. We all share every single word and the philosophy behind them, endeavoring for a bright future.
